Preparation Before Washing: Before washing your ski suit, zip up all zippers, fasten buttons, and secure all flaps and straps, as well as any Velcro fasteners. This helps prevent snagging with other clothing or accessories and reduces friction during washing.
Follow the Washing Instructions: Ski suits usually come with washing instructions, which are tailored to the specific fabric and technology. Read and follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper washing.
Do Not Use Laundry Detergent: If you cannot find washing instructions, consider the following: Use a small amount of neutral detergent. Avoid using laundry powder or any products containing bleach, stain remover, or fabric softener. The chemicals in these cleaners may damage the ski suit's waterproof properties and harm the fabric's color and texture.
Use a Professional Ski Suit Cleaner: To ensure you don't damage the waterproof coating and fabric, it is recommended to use a cleaner specifically designed for ski suits. These cleaners are generally gentle yet effective, removing dirt while protecting the waterproof properties.
Avoid harsh machine washing.
Hand washing: For small areas of ski clothing, use a soft-bristled brush or sponge with detergent to gently wipe. Hand wash only; do not rub or wring.
Machine washing: Machine washing is also possible, but avoid harsh mechanical washing. A front-loading washing machine with a gentle cycle is recommended to avoid excessive friction on the ski clothing.
Do not wash with other heavily soiled clothing.
Water temperature: 30-40 degrees Celsius lukewarm water.
Air drying: Avoid direct sunlight. Air drying, avoiding direct sunlight, is suitable for most ski clothing.
If using a dryer, use a gentle spin speed and continue tumble drying for an additional 20 minutes after drying to activate the water-repellent (DWR) effect of the fabric. This step can be performed whenever the water repellency needs improvement.
If using an iron, set the iron to a low temperature and do not use steam. Place a cloth over the ski clothing before ironing. This can help activate the water-repellent effect of the outer fabric of the garment.
